The Angry Beavers Wiki

Dag becomes a bowler with the help from Laverta Lutz.

Episode Summary[]

Production Information[]

  • This episode had a very well known case of censorship. Originally at one point Norbert was to say to Daggett, "Shut up, stupid!" replying to when Dag said "You stink." However, the president of Nickelodeon at the time Herb Scannell, did not want this in the episode because he believed, "I don't like it when children say 'Shut up,' so if we never say it on our show, children will never say it in the real world". Writer Micah Wright, expressed his frustrations with this as he said, "That's not how the world works."
    • Their first attempt at censoring this was simply bleeping out the word "Shut" in the original airing of the episode from 1998, as shown in this video. However, Nickelodeon received major complaints from this due to the fact that it sounded like Norbert was actually swearing at Daggett. Their second attempt was simply redubbing over the line with "Shush up."[1] This version is now shown on all television airings, home media releases, and streaming services.
    • However, the phrase "Shut up" has been said in previous episodes such as in "Go Beavers!" when Daggett says it twice, and "Long in the Teeth" when Treeflower and multiple other characters say it to Daggett at the end of the episode. Even episodes of The Angry Beavers and other Nicktoons like SpongeBob SquarePants that aired and produced after this episode allowed the phrase “Shut up” to be used.

300 Series plaque
  • The 300 Series plaque inside the bowling alley has the following names: STATEMA, DILORETO, LESSA M, VITO, COHN M, and BUTTERCUP. Four of them are a reference to Angry Beavers crew members John R. Statema, Rosanna DiLoreto, Michael Lessa, and Vito Curcuru.
  • Another crew member, Kimberly Goosen, was mentioned over the P.A. system.

  • Camelot - The bowling alley, Camelot Lanes, is a reference to the legendary castle.
  • Lady of the Lanes is a take on Lady of the Lake.
  • Excalibur - The bowling ball, Excaliball, is a take on King Arthur's legendary sword.
  • "The Hustle - A instrumental remix of the disco song is heard as the Beavers bowl against the Otto Brothers.
  • "Disco Inferno" - A instrumental remix of a 70's song by The Trammps is also heard as the Beavers bowl against the Otto Brothers.
